Frequently Asked Questions

How do I go about selling something in one of your auctions?
That's easy! Feel free to give us a call (800-476-5359) or email us at info@kfauctions.com with any questions you have. We will get back to you with a personal response within two business days. Deliveries accepted by special appointment only.

Why should I choose your auction house over a competitor?
Reputation and our client base. Our company is nationally recognized and we have clients all over the country. We have relationships with Artfact, Sotheby's, AuctionZip, and many of Ken's colleagues from the Antiques Roadshow. Just because we are in Virginia does not mean that we cannot help you. We have sold items to and for clients all over the United States, Canada, England, Europe and most of the world.

How accessible are you?
We mail our catalogs and flyers throughout the country. We receive absentee bids from hundreds of people who participate by telephone, fax, email, and increasingly, through live bidding on the Internet. We have set several Internet records - let us set one for you!

How do you market your auctions?
Each sale is marketed extensively. We place ads in local, regional, and national newspapers and trades along with the Maine Antique Digest and Antique Week. Each ad campaign is custom designed for each auction depending on the items being offered. We also list our auctions on our Website calendar, which gets thousands of hits during auction weeks!

Are you professional?
We have a great staff that is dedicated to making your sale the best that it can be. Our staff deals directly with our clients and consignors with a pleasant friendly manner that says that we care! We are very proud of our dedicated team. We pride ourselves for our honesty, integrity and the ability to deal with people fairly. We take care of our clients and our consignors the way we want to be treated and cared for.

What are your results?
We get great results for our consignors. We have set auction records for fine art, furniture, miniatures and folk art. We would be happy to provide references from our previous clients. Contact us to book an auction for you today.

Auction Types

Catalogue Auctions

From our facility we conduct periodic nationally advertised Catalogue sales. These auctions are held live in our gallery and simultaneously on the internet as the auction takes place. Bidders can take part in the in-house sale locally or from the privacy of there home globally.

Our company operates from a 12,000 square foot facility. The auction location is one block off Main Street in downtown Radford, convenient to exits 109 or 105 from Interstate 81. The gallery has central heating and cooling, over 160 feet of carpeted walls and floors with halogen lighting, 80 feet of locking, lighted showcases and a state of the art security system. There are 12 phone lines available for phone bidding, a ISDN data line for computer operation/internet access, and two large monitors for live digital/video of featured items during auctions. The sales area can accommodate 300-400 live bidders and there is a large storage and staging area plus offices adjacent to the sales gallery. We also have upscale restrooms and a large parking lot that will accommodate 200 vehicles.

Treasure Auctions

From our Gallery, we conduct periodic Treasure Auctions each month. Please check the calendar for dates.

Merchandise is placed in the Treasure sales according to quality and what we feel is the most beneficial selling environment. The Treasure sales feature middle market and collectible household items, which generally sell better to a large live audience. In all sales including large collections, the Internet and other promotional tools are used in varying degrees. We accommodate bidders by accepting absentee bids and phone bids during the sale.

The obvious advantages to selling from the gallery are its controlled environment - temperature regulation, parking, good lighting, increased security and access to computers and phone lines. Also, furniture and art can be arranged in room settings along the carpeted walls and the halogen lighting brings out the best features in each individual item.

On-Site Auctions

Tents, an office trailer and significant manpower are provided to produce a safe and productive selling environment. An auction at a home can be a wonderful selling experience. All onsite auctions benefit from error free computer auction software to keep track of items and buyers. Carefully collected or inherited items can be displayed on large TV's in rooms where they have been admired for generations. This can produce a very highly charged and emotional bidding atmosphere. Sometimes a collector's home can be a great display background for items and selling in a collectors back yard can produce more local customers familiar with the homes contents.

All onsite sales will feature a combination of:
